Dear Parents,

I am going to try to keep my blog updated for you. I’m sorry I haven’t fixed it until now, but it will be on my “to do” list from now on.

Hurray! Our NECAP testing is now over. Thank you for all the encouragement you gave to your child during the three week window of testing.

I’d like to talk about homework today.

Spelling homework should be every night. Mostly it should be studying their weekly spelling list which should have 4 “Core “third grade words,1 priority word (if they have any at all), words that were misspelled on their weekly paragraph test and words from the weekly skill. Most children have ten words to study each week and a few have six words. On some nights your child will have a spelling paper to do at home. It will usually have a “Dear Parents” at the top. Please encourage your child to do their spelling work every night.

Reading homework should be done every night. Your child can choose a book from the school or town library, my classroom or a book from home. It should be a book that is just right for your child. Not too easy and not too challenging.

Math Home Link homework is also every night. You can definitly help your child but only if they need you to do so. The homework will be a repeat of that day’s math lesson.

All this homework should last for about 30 minutes!

From your third grade teacher,
Susan M. Blanchette
